Leading the launches at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked was the Galaxy Ring, a $399 smart ring that had already been previewed at Mobile World Congress 2024.

Its functionality appears similar to that of the Oura Ring, with a primary focus on health tech: it collects personal data from the user to allow for tracking of metrics like heart rate and sleep cycles.

Samsung’s version weighs between 2.3 and 3.0 grams depending on size, is water-resistant, and offers 7 days of battery life on a single charge. Additionally, the ring is available in silver, black, and gold colors, all made from titanium.

Continuing in the line of wearables, Samsung is further expanding its smartwatch catalog with the new $299 Galaxy Watch7 and $649 Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Like the ring, the Watch7 is primarily aimed at health enthusiasts, featuring new AI-powered health and fitness apps.

The Race app allows runners to compare their current and past performance with real-time tracking, while an “enhanced BioActive Sensor” measures advanced glycation end products (AGEs), a reflection of an individual’s “overall biological aging process and provides an indication of metabolic health.”

The Watch7 comes in 40mm and 44mm size options, but for those seeking a larger and more durable unit, the Ultra is a 47mm outdoor watch made from titanium grade 4.

The Ultra is advertised as being able to function from “500 meters below sea level to 9,000 meters high.” It also offers an emergency siren and a special night mode.

The Foldable Era Expands

In terms of phones, Samsung introduced two new additions to the Galaxy Z series: the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6. True to its name, the Fold6 opens up like a book to reveal a large interior screen designed for working on the go.

AI features assist in the task with built-in voice-to-text transcription and a sketch-to-image tool. The Flip6 opens vertically, dividing the screen into two squares.

Users can also orient the phone to use one screen while the other acts as a stand to prop the device up.

The company described the Flip6 as “optimized for portability,” with each square screen measuring 3.4 inches. The Galaxy Z Fold6 starts at $1,899 and the Galaxy Z Flip6 starts at $1,099.

To accompany the new devices, Samsung also launched the Galaxy Buds3 series, which consists of standard and Pro versions of the wireless earbuds.

One of the most impressive features of the Buds is the ability to activate an interpreter mode, in which the earbuds will translate a foreign language directly into your ear. Samsung is charging $179 for the standard Buds3 and $249 for the Pro version.

All of Samsung’s new mobile products are now available for preorder and general sales will begin on July 24th.
