Chaumet is making a strong statement in Italy with the sumptuous opening of its first independent store in the capital, Rome. Located on the exclusive Via dei Condotti, an emblematic street lined with luxury brands such as Cartier, Hermès and Bulgari, the new 120-square-meter boutique marks a major milestone for the French jewelry house.

For Charles Leung, CEO of Chaumet (part of the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton giant), the choice of Rome was “obvious”. After the successful openings in Madrid (2019) and London (2020), and considering the brand’s historical presence in Italy, the Eternal City presented itself as the perfect setting.

Chaumet already had a presence in seven Italian multi-brand jewelers, including Bedetti and Menichini in Rome.

Words from its CEO

“We have been in Italy for many years through the wholesale network, so some customers already know us,” explains Leung. “However, we had never had our own space to communicate our identity, showcase our high jewelry collections and offer a truly Chaumet experience.”

In addition, the 2025 Jubilee, a year-long religious festival expected to attract 35 million visitors to Rome, adds an additional attraction to the bet.

“Rome is in constant effervescence with preparations for next year’s Jubilee, and the city is transforming,” says Leung.

French design and culture

To merge Chaumet’s French heritage with the identity of its new host city, the 80-square-meter commercial space (with an additional 40 square meters of backroom in the basement) exhibits a work of art that combines the silhouette of Trajan’s Column with its counterpart in the Place Vendôme in Paris. In addition, an entire wall will be dedicated to maillechort tiaras, life-size replicas used to refine the volumes of jewelry pieces.

The boutique will offer collections such as Bee My Love and select pieces of high jewelry, including some presented at an exclusive dinner held in Venice attended by celebrities such as Emilia Clarke and Song Hye-kyo.

Emphasizing Chaumet’s historical connection to Italy, which dates back to 1804 with Napoleon Bonaparte’s commission of a papal tiara for Pope Pius VII, the firm will exhibit the Bourbon-Parma tiara, created in 1919 for the wedding of the French aristocrat Hedwige de la Rochefoucauld.

“The Roman public is accustomed to grandeur, beauty and impressiveness,” says Leung. “That’s why it was important to show them our true essence. Everything is designed to convey Chaumet’s identity as a serious, high-quality Parisian high jewelry brand with a rich heritage and a contemporary touch.”
