The partnership between this luxury automaker and whisky distillery is not over.

One of the most enduring collaborations between luxury cars and high-end whisky is coming to an end.

Bowmore and Aston Martin have just announced the details of the fourth and final whisky in the Masters’ Selection series, a single malt Scotch.

However, while this specific line is ending, the partnership between the two brands will continue for many years to come.

Bowmore and Aston Martin launched their first collaboration, Black Bowmore DB5 1964, in 2020. This was an extremely limited edition: with only 25 decanters available at a price of £50,000 each. The 1964 single malt was presented in a special case designed to evoke the classic DB5, which was released the year before the whisky was distilled.

Since then, there have been several other collaborations between the two brands, including three previous Masters’ Selection whiskies, some exclusive to global retail, and the impressive ARC-52.

This last whisky, a 52-year-old single malt aged in sherry casks and bourbon barrels, was presented in a futuristic glass decanter with a large metal top. It originally sold for $75,000, but the Mokume Edition was auctioned for nearly $300,000 about a year ago.

The final and fourth release in the Masters’ Selection series blends components of the three previous whiskies, according to the brand.

It is a 21-year-old single malt aged in American oak tawny port barrels and Oloroso sherry barrels.

According to the official tasting notes, you can expect a nutty sweetness on the nose, followed by honey, salted toffee, orange zest, thyme, and milk chocolate on the palate, with light hints of peat smoke on the finish.

A Last Symphony of Whisky and Luxury

Ron Welsh, Bowmore’s master blender, is the creator of this new whisky. “This fourth and final edition of Masters’ Selection defines the journey of this collaboration to date with absolute perfection,” he said in a statement.

“Uniting the spirit of Bowmore and Aston Martin has been an honor and a privilege for everyone involved, and I am confident that this is reflected in the quality of what we have created together. We look forward to continuing to explore and expand the possibilities of this incredible partnership for many years to come.”

Exactly what that means is still unclear, but whether it’s a luxury offering like ARC-52, a new series of Aston Martin-themed single malts, or some special release that incorporates car parts into the packaging, it seems there’s more to come.

Bowmore Masters’ Selection Edition 4 will be available in the United States starting next month with a suggested retail price of £425 ($537).

In the meantime, you can find other Bowmore expressions, including a previous Masters’ Selection edition, available at ReserveBar.
