Raeburn Unveils Eco-Conscious Collection with Puma and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1

British brand Raeburn, in collaboration with Puma and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, has launched a limited-edition capsule collection with an eco-conscious focus.

Under the creative direction of Christopher Raeburn, founder of Raeburn and known for his upcycling and zero-waste approach to fashion design, this capsule collection with Puma and Mercedes-AMG Petronas sees used racing suit elements reinvented into elevated fashion pieces made with recycled materials.

 

The collection is divided into three tiers of products. Firstly, a hero jacket reconstructed from a race suit worn by Lewis Hamilton at the Spanish Grand Prix in August 2020 takes center stage.

 

This piece will be auctioned later this year following the British Grand Prix.

The second tier includes unique items crafted from suits used during the 2022 season by Hamilton and George Russell, as well as their mechanics.

 

These items will be offered through a raffle on Puma’s official website.

 

The third tier of the collection comprises a limited quantity of everyday apparel made from surplus fabric utilized to manufacture racing suits.

Sustainable Fashion

Christopher Raeburn, who also serves as Global Creative Director for Napapijri, expressed his satisfaction at being able to bring “the best of our ethos of remaking, reducing, and recycling” to this project.

 

“The result is a radical step forward from anything we’ve worked on before. From the reconstructed hero pieces, crafted in our East London studio, to the wider collection, made in close collaboration with Puma, each item in the range has a special story and a reason for being. At Raeburn, we’ve always sought to break the mold, innovate, and inspire, and I believe this project truly takes our focus on responsible design further than ever before.”

Richard Sanders, Commercial Director of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, stated that the latest collaboration with Puma and Raeburn pushes the boundaries “in a highly innovative way, combining our shared values of style and sustainability,” and is confident that fans will enjoy the opportunity to “own a piece of team history while proudly showcasing their own fashion statement.”

 

Limited Edition Collection

Hamilton’s fashion line, Plus44.world, is also capitalizing on the Formula 1 fervor with the launch of Home Turf, a limited-edition collection inspired by Hamilton’s home race at Silverstone.

This collection features a four-piece capsule designed by Nigerian-born artist Leonard Iheagwam, professionally known as Soldier.

 

“This collection is particularly special to me, as it fuses sport, art, and self-expression, while celebrating the creative spirit of one of my favorite cities: London,” said Hamilton.

 

“Soldier is a very powerful artist and a true testament to that creative spirit, and it’s been incredible working with him on this collection.”

To mark the launch, the Home Turf collection made its debut at Selfridges Oxford Street London’s retail space on Monday, with a pop-up located on the first floor.

 

“The launch is the perfect start to a summer dedicated to celebrating sport in-store,” said Bosse Myhr, Buying Director of Men’s, Women’s and Kidswear at Selfridges, adding that the pop-up will allow shoppers to acquire pieces inspired by the driver’s journey and his love of art, music, travel, and community.
