A toast to two legends: unveiling the Maserati MC20 Icona and Leggenda

Both editions feature a distinctive carbon fiber engine cover, showcasing either “Icona. UNA DI 20” (Icona. One of 20) or “LEGGENDA. UNA DI 20” (Leggenda. One of 20).

Twenty years after the iconic MC12 roared onto the scene, Maserati raises a glass to its legacy with two new limited-edition MC20s – the Icona and Leggenda.

These exclusive models pay homage to the Enzo-based supercar, a true titan in Maserati’s history.

The MC20 Icona serves as a tribute to the road-going MC12. Its stunning exterior boasts a captivating two-tone livery – Bianco Audace Matte white contrasted with a burst of Blu Stradale blue. A touch of Italian pride shines through with a discreet Italian flag adorning the door. This beauty is a true rarity, with only 20 units being crafted.

Adding a touch of elegance are the chrome-plated Trident wheels, hinting at the power lurking beneath. Peer closer, and you’ll see the iconic Trident emblem in the center, proudly finished in blue for a cohesive aesthetic.

Step inside either the Icona or Leggenda, and you’ll be greeted by the luxurious embrace of the Fuoriserie package. Lightweight, four-way adjustable racing seats provide optimal comfort and support, while the headrests boast exquisite Trident embroidery emblazoned with either “Icona” or “Leggenda,” depending on your choice of tribute.

Exterior design

The interiors echo the exterior themes, with the Icona sporting a central Nero/Blu section against a silver background, while the Leggenda features a sleek Nero finish on silver.

Shifting gears, the Leggenda pays its respects to the legendary MC12 GT1. Its exterior dons a striking combination of Nero Essenza black and Digital Mint Matte green, faithfully replicating the livery of the championship-winning MC12 GT1 driven by the Vitaphone Racing team. This dominant team racked up an impressive five consecutive FIA GT1 Teams’ Championships and a staggering 40 race wins with the MC12 – perhaps the inspiration behind the limited 40-unit production run for these special edition MC20s.

Similar to the Icona, the Leggenda rolls on Trident wheels, this time finished in Nero Opaco black with contrasting Digital Mint Green hubcaps. Black brake callipers provide a touch of visual depth, while the Trident logos adorning the grille, doors, and C-pillar gleam in a vibrant yellow. Matching the exclusivity of the Icona, only 20 units of the Leggenda will grace the world.

Powerful motor

Since no mention of powertrain modifications was made, we can expect the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo “Nettuno” V6 to deliver its exhilarating 621 bhp and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque, just as it does in the standard MC20.

Both editions receive a special touch on the carbon fiber engine cover, proudly displaying either “ICONA. UNA DI 20” (Icona. One of 20) or “LEGGENDA. UNA DI 20” (Leggenda. One of 20).  Top speed remains an astounding 202 mph, and the 0-62 mph sprint clocks in at a lightning-fast 2.9 seconds. As an added bonus, both models boast an electronic limited-slip differential, enhancing driving dynamics over the standard MC20.
