Jonathan Anderson’s vision for Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection takes a daring leap forward, embracing a philosophy of “radical reduction” without sacrificing the brand’s signature opulence.

This season unfolds like a symphony, where contrasting scales, textures, and movement create a harmonious interplay.

The collection opens with a powerful statement – a tailored black suit that embodies Anderson’s exploration of verticality. The elongated oxfords and meticulous tailoring showcase the designer’s keen eye for detail.

This opening act sets the stage for a collection where seemingly simple pieces reveal hidden depths.  While minimal at first glance, a closer look reveals the artistry behind the reduction, with an emphasis on premium quality and a subtle, yet undeniable, luxuriousness.

Movement becomes a key player in the collection, adding a dynamic element to the meticulously crafted pieces. Trousers appear to defy gravity, seamlessly transitioning from front to back, while coats capture a fleeting moment in time, frozen open mid-motion.

Beyond minimalism

This element of transformation echoes throughout the collection, suggesting a fluidity and adaptability that’s both visually captivating and surprisingly practical.

Luxury takes on a new dimension through the innovative use of materials. Knitted trousers offer a modern take on comfort, while metal woven tank tops evoke a sense of contemporary armor.  A standout piece – a top crafted entirely from mother-of-pearl – exemplifies Anderson’s commitment to pushing boundaries and elevating everyday materials into works of art.

Despite playful bursts of texture and the occasional oversized leather jacket, the overall aesthetic remains remarkably restrained. This sense of minimalism extends beyond the garments themselves, evident in the stark set design.

Models descend a grand staircase, creating a dramatic yet understated presentation that allows the clothes to speak for themselves. The collection’s restraint underscores Anderson’s mastery – creating impactful fashion through a pared-back approach that celebrates the beauty of understated opulence.

Art of reduction

Loewe’s iconic accessories receive a fresh update for the season. Beloved pieces like the Puzzle bag and the Pebble hobo bag are reimagined with a contemporary edge, seamlessly integrating with the collection’s modern aesthetic.

Anderson’s meticulous attention to detail extends to the headpieces. Long feathers, either framing or completely concealing faces, inject a touch of theatricality and mystique into the looks.

Throughout the collection, necklines and silhouettes offer a sense of forgiveness, striking a harmonious balance between structure and fluidity. This focus on wearability ensures that the pieces are not just visually arresting but also comfortable and adaptable. This marriage of form and function is a testament to Anderson’s ability to push the boundaries of fashion design while remaining true to Loewe’s heritage of creating luxurious pieces meant to be lived in.
