Among them were established firms like ACACIA, Andrea Iyamah, Sinesia Karol, and Luli Fama, as well as innovative newcomers like RIOT Swim and The Blonds, all presenting their visions for summer 2024.

Sustainability takes center stage

The event also served as a hub for innovation and sustainability, highlighted by the Instituto Marangoni’s “Upcycle Challenge.” This special runway show emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in the industry, demonstrating how future designers can influence the market with eco-conscious approaches.

Concurrent to the runway shows, Miami Swim Week hosted the Summer Fashion Summit, a conference held on June 1st and 2nd at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The summit explored the latest trends and innovations in beachwear fashion, including discussions on sustainability, marketing, and manufacturing, featuring participation from industry leaders.

A landmark event

Natalija Dedic Stojanovic, the event’s creative director and co-founder, compared the importance of Miami Swim Week to that of Art Basel for contemporary art, highlighting the growth and visibility the event has achieved over the past two decades. During this short period, the city is abuzz with visitors seeking both trade-only and consumer-facing experiences.

This year’s edition not only celebrated the event’s legacy but also marked a milestone in its history, projecting an estimated economic impact of between $50 and $75 million for the city of Miami.

In addition to the runway shows and the Summer Fashion Summit, the event also featured a variety of networking opportunities, pop-up shops, and parties, making it a truly immersive experience for all attendees.
