Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a revolutionary concept car, the PureSpeed, at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix.
This isn’t your average luxury coupe – the PureSpeed throws conventional design out the window, offering a thrillingly open-air experience that harks back to the golden age of racing.
Imagine slicing through the air, tour senses on high alert, with nothing but a sleek HALO system separating you from the elements. That’s the PureSpeed – a radical departure from the norm, designed for pure riding pleasure. Conceived as the spearhead of the upcoming Mythos series, this ultra-exclusive offering is a love letter to speed demons and collectors alike.
Unveiled on a floating platform in Monaco’s harbor, the PureSpeed immediately captivated onlookers, including F1 royalty Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. “The PureSpeed offers a glimpse into the most direct way to experience performance,” declared Michael Schiebe, leader at Mercedes-AMG. “It’s radically open – no roof, no windshield – just you, your co-pilot, and the raw power of the engine.”
Limited to a mere 250 units, the PureSpeed is an automotive masterpiece crafted for the discerning enthusiast. Cutting-edge materials and technology intertwine with design cues that echo the awe-inspiring Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar.
An outstanding feature is the HALO system, a Formula 1 derivative that replaces the traditional windscreen. This protective ring, resembling its namesake, shields the driver’s head in case of an accident. Just like in F1, the PureSpeed’s HALO system seamlessly integrates with the car’s body, offering top-notch protection.
But that’s not all. Two custom-designed, aerodynamic helmets are included, transforming the driving experience into a true Formula 1 spectacle. Gone are the days of roofs, windshields, and side windows – the PureSpeed immerses you and your passenger in the pure joy of open-air driving.
The interior boasts a unique color scheme and a meticulously crafted equipment concept, complete with a chronograph clock on the dashboard. Inspired by legendary Mercedes racing models, the PureSpeed’s exterior is a feast for the eyes.
A head-turning paint job transitions from Le Mans red to graphite grey, adorned with a black AMG pattern – a subtle tribute to the victorious 1924 Targa Florio racer. Muscular rear shoulders and carbon-fiber wheel covers complete the package, whispering of both power and elegance.
The PureSpeed’s low-slung stance and extended hood scream classic sports car. This aggressive design philosophy takes cues from its high-performance sibling, the Mercedes-AMG ONE. A wide lower air intake dominates the front fascia, proudly displaying the AMG lettering. A dark, chrome-plated Mercedes star sits atop the sleek, almost shark-like nose, adding a touch of elegance to the raw power on display.
