Evolving with Time, Maintaining Its Legacy

Hotel Jerome is like the Madonna of luxury hotels. It consistently maintains its position at the vanguard of the industry, continuously adapting to meet the evolving needs of modern consumers.

Without resting on the laurels of past accolades, this award-winning and historic property, a century-old fixture in the elegant town of Aspen, remains as iconic as when it opened its doors in 1889, even as it moves toward its next chapter.

New Experiences and a Speakeasy Touch

As the bustling ski town enters the peak season, the 95-room hotel unveiled the results of an ambitious enhancement project that includes new residential-style suites, a renovated outdoor area, and an entirely new acquisition: the over 100-year-old Aspen Times printing house next door.

Hotel Jerome meticulously renovated the 1,432-square-foot structure, striving to preserve its striking façade while adding Bad Harriet, a sexy speakeasy bar beneath the former newspaper building.

The result is a glimmering underground Art Deco-style haven where Aspen’s fashionable crowd can mingle with other members of society while enjoying sophisticated cocktails and appetizers.

Tribute to Pioneer Women

Named after Harriet Wheeler, wife of the hotel’s original developer and owner, Jerome B. Wheeler, Bad Harriet is a bold narrative twist on Mrs. Wheeler’s normally proper personality, while honoring the pioneering women in the hotel’s history.

“Harriet Wheeler was genteel and uptight, so we turned her into this tough woman, a diva,” says Tony DiLucia, general manager of Hotel Jerome. “We wanted to celebrate the powerful women of that period, of Prohibition, so we decided that’s how it should be. She should be Bad Harriet.’”

The hotel is hoping the bar will help bring out the playful and mischievous personality of the place.  It’s the perfect addition to Jerome’s existing culinary and cocktail venues: the legendary J-Bar, the après-chic Living Room, and Prospect, its high-end restaurant.

New Suites and Enhanced Outdoor Space

Back inside, Hotel Jerome enlisted Aspen architecture firm Rowland + Broughton, landscape architects Design Workshop, and TAL Studio by Todd-Avery Lenahan, the creative team behind the hotel’s award-winning 2012 redesign, to help create new charismatic outdoor spaces and two- and three-bedroom guest residences.

Each 2,000-square-foot suite is on a private floor and features entertainment space, a fireplace, a Queen sofa bed, and a well-equipped kitchen.

Both suites have balconies overlooking Aspen Mountain, with prices ranging from $3,250 to $12,500 per night.

Additionally, a new sun-filled venue, the Dunaway Room (named after the late Aspen Times owner, Bil Dunaway), is located on the ground floor beneath the new suites and opens to the courtyard, which boasts a new private outdoor event space, a renovated outdoor pool deck, and two hot tubs.
