The Mercedes AMG team will unveil its new car at an event scheduled for February 24th with its drivers, experienced George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli.
The world of Formula 1 is preparing for big changes in 2025, in what some teams would even call a new era. One of them is the Mercedes AMG team, which is expecting a surprise with the launch of its new single-seater: the F1 W16 E Performance.
The presentation will take place on February 24, 2025, a few days after all the teams unveil their new colors at an event at the O2 Arena in London, scheduled for February 18.
For Mercedes AMG, the F1 W16 E Performance represents not only an evolution in automotive engineering applied to Formula One but also a change in the team’s driver line-up. With the departure of legend Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari, the team now has rookie Kimi Antonelli making his debut alongside the experienced George Russell.
The season will start with a bang, as on February 19th, before any official launch or event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Formula 1, Ferrari will unveil its 2025 single-seater at its Fiorano test track.
Ferrari’s new single-seater is known as Project 677 and although no details of the car have been released, it has been reported that at least 95% will be a new design with a more dynamic chassis for better cornering performance and an innovative system for improved braking performance.
It will be an event that will include a first driving session and a closer encounter with drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc with the press and fans.
Once all the launches have been completed, all the teams will head to the Barhein International Circuit from February 26 to 28 for pre-season testing.
This event is crucial as it allows the teams to fine-tune their cars and adjust their strategies ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, the first race of the season, which takes place from March 14-16.

Kimi Antonelli (18), also known as Andrea Kimi Antonelli, is an Italian Formula 1 driver who is part of the Mercedes AMG Petronas team. Between 2019 and 2024 he was part of the Mercedes junior team. In 2025 he is a starter of the main team replacing Lewis Hamilton, who signed with Scuderia Ferrari for the 2025 season.
