The Beachside Hotel opened on August 28, and it’s designed to welcome families looking for a memorable beach getaway.

Located on North Beach Street, just steps from both downtown Nantucket and Jetties Beach, the reimagined Beachside Hotel is crafted to be a true family destination, with ample activities and amenities that engage guests of every age.

The hotel’s design, by New York-based Parts and Labor Design, brings fresh life to mid-century cedar-shingled buildings. Drawing inspiration from both classic 1950s design and the nostalgic summer vibes of the film The Sandlot, the hotel captures a timeless, playful spirit.

Nostalgia meets comfort

“Our goal was to create a space where parents and kids could equally enjoy themselves,” explain Jason Brown and Brad Guidi, co-founders of Blue Flag Capital, who are also behind Faraway Hotels. “Family resorts often skew heavily toward children or, conversely, have little to offer for them. We wanted to find the right balance — a place where kids can safely explore the 3.5-acre resort on their own, while parents can relax by the pool.”

This balance has resulted in a summer paradise featuring a newly built pool, a gated children’s pool, a fitness center, free bike rentals, expansive suites with balconies, and a game room. The property’s spacious courtyard is perfect for family gatherings, and a kids’ club is set to launch in 2025.

Beachside offers a range of daily activities, including family movie nights and communal fire pits for evening gatherings.

In reimagining the property’s look, Brown and Guidi infused it with a mid-century charm without making it feel outdated. Originally built in the 1960s when Nantucket was a hub for artists and creatives, the Beachside Hotel channels the island’s artistic heritage.

Retro style

The decor emphasizes warm terracotta and cream colors, balanced with natural materials like rattan and leather, and rich greens and golds. Hand-cut marble mosaic floors, sky-blue tiles in the bathrooms, and custom lighting are just a few of the thoughtful design elements, complemented by DS & Durga bath products and Italian Bellino linens.

Guests are encouraged to explore beyond the property to nearby Jetties Beach, but the hotel itself has plenty to offer. Inside, the lobby is furnished with woven straw chairs, mosaic vases, and plush white velvet ottomans, providing a cozy retreat. The game room, adorned with abstract art and a Rubik’s cube installation, offers a touch of playful nostalgia.
