Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who had not lifted a title since August 2023 in Los Cabos, won the prestigious Monte Carlo Masters 1000 for the third time this Sunday after defeating Casper Ruud in a convincing 6-1, 6-4 final.

With this victory, Tsitsipas not only crowns himself king of Monte Carlo but also returns to the ATP top 10 rankings, placing seventh, just behind his final opponent, Ruud.

Tsitsipas’s performance in the final was impeccable. He dominated the match from start to finish, leaving Ruud, who despite his good performance during the tournament, unable to find a way to counteract the Greek’s game.

For Tsitsipas, this triumph means much more than just a title. It is the confirmation that he is in great form and has everything it takes to compete for the big tournaments on the circuit.

Words from his team

His father and coach, Apostolos Tsitsipas, could not contain his emotion after his son’s victory. “I never doubted that he would play at this level,” Apostolos told ATP. “Stefanos is a dreamer. I could say that he is also still young in his soul and mind. Like any young person, he needs to believe in life, he must believe in the goals he sets for himself. That’s why we are here, to remind him that he deserves to be who he is.”

With this title, Tsitsipas joins a select group of players who have managed to win the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 three times or more. These include legends like Rafael Nadal (11 titles), Björn Borg (3), Thomas Muster (3), and Ilie Nastase (3).

There is no doubt that Stefanos Tsitsipas has made a big comeback. The Greek is determined to achieve great things and this title in Monte Carlo is just the first step on a path that promises to be bright.
