The legendary Pier Sixty-Six, a historic resort set along the waterfront and originally opened in the 1960s, has reemerged after undergoing a monumental, multi-billion-dollar reimagining.

Although the original tower still proudly anchors the skyline with its nostalgic charm, everything else across the sprawling 32-acre property has been completely re-envisioned—ushering in a modern revival that’s already captivating the local scene, especially with its vibrant new culinary offerings.

“There’s a strong emotional connection many locals have with Pier Sixty-Six, given its deep history in the community,” says Kevin Ives, the property’s general manager. “We’ve preserved our iconic tower, now officially recognized for its historical value, but the rest of the experience is entirely reimagined—with intentional nods to our roots.”

From historic charm to modern luxury

At the heart of this transformation is a dynamic dining scene. Two standout restaurants, Calusso and Sotogrande, are already redefining the resort’s food and beverage identity. Calusso offers a chic fusion of Southern European tastes layered with the breezy ease of South Florida. Meanwhile, Sotogrande delivers a bold, radiant tribute to Southern Spain and the flavors of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The crown jewel of the culinary lineup is the newly reopened Pier Top—a revolving lounge on the 17th floor of the historic tower. Reintroducing this iconic space, the venue now serves signature cocktails alongside panoramic, 360-degree views of Fort Lauderdale’s skyline and its world-renowned yachting marinas.

And there’s more on the horizon. Garni, which opened on April 2, brings a touch of European café culture to Florida with a French-American brunch menu served all day. Complete with mimosa and Bloody Mary bars, it promises a lively twist on traditional daytime dining. Also joining the scene is Pelican Landing, a relaxed dockside spot serving comfort classics like conch fritters and cold PBRs—ideal for boaters and visitors arriving by land.

A fresh chapter

Despite its polished appearance, Pier Sixty-Six aims to remain approachable. “We’re putting real emphasis on hospitality and the personal experience,” Ives adds. “So far, over 80 percent of our food and beverage guests have been locals or non-hotel visitors, which speaks to how accessible we want the resort to feel.”

Beyond its revitalized food scene, the resort now features 325 contemporary guest rooms and 88 high-end private residences. It also offers one of Broward County’s most expansive venues for events and gatherings. Soon, it will welcome the debut of Zenova Spa & Wellness, a 13,000-square-foot oasis for relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can expect immersive amenities like sensory showers, a snow room, and a sauna steeped in ceremonial tradition.

As Pier Sixty-Six embarks on this bold new chapter, it continues to honor its iconic past—while redefining luxury and hospitality for a new generation of Fort Lauderdale visitors.
