In a world where complexity often overshadows elegance, maison Breguet has redefined the art of watchmaking with the Classique Souscription 2025—a single-hand watch that marries minimalism with unparalleled sophistication.

The Breguet Classique Souscription 2025 is a celebration of heritage, innovation, and artistry. From its single-hand mechanism to its Breguet Gold case and enamel dial, every element is a testament to the brand’s unwavering pursuit of perfection.

For the discerning collector, this timepiece is  a piece of history, a symbol of elegance, and a masterpiece of watchmaking.

The Classique Souscription is available for purchase at a price of USD 48,700, with a deposit of 25% of the total amount required to secure the order.

A Triumph of Tradition and Innovation

The Aiguille d’Or is the most prestigious accolade in haute horlogerie, celebrating the watch that best embodies excellence in design, craftsmanship, and technical innovation. This is the highest honor at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

In 2025, the jury crowned the Breguet Classique Souscription 2025, recognizing its groundbreaking approach to timekeeping and its deep roots in Breguet’s storied past.

This victory is particularly significant as it underscores Breguet’s ability to reinterpret its own history while pushing the boundaries of contemporary watchmaking. The Souscription 2025 is inspired by the 18th-century subscription watches created by Abraham-Louis Breguet, a genius whose inventions—such as the tourbillon and the perpetual calendar—remain cornerstones of modern horology.

The Art of Reading Time with a Single Hand

The most striking feature of the Classique Souscription 2025 is its single-hand mechanism. Unlike traditional watches, which use separate hands for hours and minutes, Breguet’s creation employs one elegant, flame-blued steel hand to indicate both.

  • The Dial: The dial is a study in simplicity and contrast, crafted from immaculate enamel—a material prized for its luminosity and durability. The Breguet Arabic numerals are slightly inclined, a signature of the brand, and are rendered in black petit feu enamel, as is the Breguet signature at 12 o’clock.

  • The Railroad Track: Encircling the dial is the famous “chemin de fer” (railroad track), segmented to mark 5-minute intervals (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc.). The single hand glides over these markers, allowing the wearer to read the time with intuitive ease.

How It Works

  • Hours: The hand points directly to the hour, as with any traditional watch.

  • Minutes: The position of the hand between the 5-minute markers indicates the minutes. For example, if the hand is halfway between 1 and 2, it is 1:25.

This system is elegant and practical, offering a refreshing alternative to the clutter of multiple hands.

Breguet Gold: A New Standard in Luxury

For the Classique Souscription 2025, Breguet introduces its own proprietary gold alloy: Breguet Gold. This 18K gold is composed of 75% gold, enriched with silver, copper, and palladium.

  • Brilliance & Durability: The addition of palladium enhances the alloy’s resistance to discoloration and ensures long-term stability, preserving the watch’s lustrous finish for generations.

  • Aesthetic Excellence: Every detail is designed to elevate the watch’s elegance, from the satin-brushed case middle to the curved lugs, which conform seamlessly to the wrist.

The Case: A Design for the Modern Connoisseur

The 40mm case of the Souscription 2025 is a masterclass in ergonomics and style.

  • Satin-Brushed Middle: The delicately satin-brushed case middle replaces the traditional fluting, offering a sleek, contemporary look while honoring the brand’s heritage.

  • Curved Lugs: The lugs are gently curved, ensuring a perfect fit on the wrist and a fluid, organic silhouette—a departure from the rigid lines of classic designs.

This thoughtful redesign makes the watch beautiful and exceptionally comfortable—a rare combination in haute horlogerie.

The Enamel Dial: A Canvas of Perfection

The dial of the Classique Souscription 2025 is a work of art, crafted using the petit feu (small fire) enamel technique—a process that involves multiple layers of enamel, each fired at high temperatures to achieve a flawless, glass-like finish.

  • Depth & Luminosity: The white enamel provides a striking contrast to the gold case and blue hand, enhancing legibility and visual impact.

  • Handcrafted Excellence: Each dial is individually crafted by master artisans, a hallmark of true luxury.

Abraham-Louis Breguet: The Watchmaker to Kings and Queens

Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747–1823) is widely regarded as the greatest watchmaker of all time. His inventions—including the tourbillon and the perpetual calendar —revolutionized horology.

  • Royal Patronage: Breguet’s clients included Marie Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, and the Queen of Naples. His Marie Antoinette No. 160 remains one of the most complex and mysterious watches ever made, commissioned in 1783 and completed in 1827—34 years after her death.

  • The Subscription Model: Breguet was also a marketing visionary. His subscription catalog allowed clients to pre-order watches with a 25% deposit, enabling him to finance production and standardize components—a precursor to modern watchmaking.

Commissioned in 1783 by an admirer of Marie Antoinette, this watch was intended to be the most complicated timepiece ever made. It featured:

  • A perpetual calendar

  • A minute repeater

  • A thermometer

  • A power reserve indicator

  • A bimetallic compensation balance

The watch was stolen in 1983 and remains missing, adding to its legendary status.
